"Phone Home"

Copper Wire “Phone Home”

A few years ago I had the great fortune of traveling with to Ethiopia with the Arba Minch Collective. At the time, Meklit Hadero  was working with rapper Gabriel Teodros and producer Burntface on a hip-hop space opera. Amazingly, we were able to film a music video at a UNESCO Heritage Site– the royal Castle in Gondar, built by Emperor Fasilides in the 17th century.

The music video also features footage of the first ever hip-hop shows in Gondar and Harar which we captured on camera. It also boasts appearances by Ethio-Jazz godfather Mulatu Astatke, and musicians Kaid and Saba Kahsay.

Produced by Chris Coniglio & Daniel Price
